A Day in the Life of a Teacher
It began in August of 1999. I was a recent graduate of Ball State University, and I was hired as a 2nd grade aide. I only worked that position for one day before a new classroom opened up. Thus began 26 years of teaching young minds, all in one school.
I’m on my fourth year of teaching 1st graders. Honestly, it’s a blast! First graders are typically eager to learn and love school. They are also extremely blunt and honest, and I’ve heard my fair share of “interesting” commentary. Yes, I’ve been told to shave my beard, to not wear certain clothes again, or that I have “furry arms.” I’ve been told I look like Santa Claus (referencing my belly) and that I have no rizz. That is probably true.
Below are some pics of my current classroom set-up. Sorry—no pics of kids here! I want to keep my job.
